Talakjung Vs Tulke Review:

Talakjung Vs Tulke is a kind of movie that Nepali film industry lacks. We get to watch such films rarely. From the script to actors performance, everything is so strong and well executed that we can feel proud with the movie. Movie should reflect our society and this movie reflect our society in an effective way. If our makers can make such movies that have the smell of Nepal and Nepali society than only our film industry can go to next level easily.

Movie’s story revolves during the time of Nepalese Civil War which lasted from 1996 until 2006. How the people of a rural area has been affected by the war and revolutionist activities are shown in an effective way. How different people of a same society has struggled during that period has been portrayed by the movie. Some scenes of the movie are superb. Like when Talakjung has a desire to join revolution and says to Sushank Mainali’s character “I also wants to be revolutionists. And tell other revolutionists not to kill people.” This signifies how an innocent people understands the revolution activities and why they want to join and how actually it is being carried out.
Nischal Basnet took more than two years to direct his second movie. This is a rare scenario in Nepali film industry when a director gives his first blockbuster movie and doesn’t direct another movie in a hurry. Nischal Basnet’s Loot proved that our film can do good business in Nepal as well as in abroad too. And now Talakjung Vs Tulke will prove that we can make a good and entertaining movie with our own story which reflects our society as well as entertain us. Background score of the movie have a gentle effect with the story.

Khagendra Lamichhane’s screenplay have many memorable moments which will please the audience. A perfectly written script and the actors who have well portrayed their character is the strong backbone of the movie. Khagendra Lamichhane as Talakjung does endearing role with great brilliance. It was Loot which gave Saugat Malla and Dayahang Rai a new height. This movie will give Khagendra Lamichhane a new height. He will be another most preferred actor of Nepali film industry. Reecha Sharme as Fuli is great. Her silence speaks which could be heard by the audience. When Dayahang Rai’s character enters, it creates some excitement among the audience. His work is appreciable as usual. His part could have been edited to make it short. Rabindra Singh Baniya’s role as Binay is brilliant. Being a producer of the movie, he has not allowed to focus so much on his character unnecessarily. Every character of the movie has their importance and adds beauty to the movie. When you come out of the theater, you get wrapped up with actor’s accent. Sushank Mainali’s performance is appreciable.

Nischal Basnet in a guest role as a police adds a value to the movie. Nachhana Maiya song comes on second half which is well placed. A special mention for Sher Bahadur Lama who has done a fine job at cinematography. Movie will hold you in the seat till the end as it doesn’t allow you to predict what will happen next. Although the climax could have some filmy ending but leaving as open ended is justified and appropriate.

Last Word:

Nischal Basnet’s Talakjung Vs Tulke is a film that never stumbles and is so sure of itself that it doesn’t go wrong. From story to actors, everything in the film works. With this, to watch or not to watch shouldn’t be a question. Go for Talakjung Singh Thakuri.
