Nepali feature movie Punte Parade is released all over Nepal. One of the highlights of the movie is actor Samyam Puri who is coming back with a movie after a two year gap. He has conquered hearts of audience with his brilliant performance in Sayaad. Being Samyam’s second movie, Punte Parade is a most awaited movie for his fans. Punte Parade is directed by Subash Koirala and written by Shan Basnyat. Movie is produced by Hari Mahat and Suraj Koirala. Movie features Samyam Puri, Anjila Dahal, Nilu Doma Sherpa, Priyanka Karki in lead role.

What’s Bad: A poor script and screenplay.

Story:

Punte Parade is the story of Swastik also known as Punte (played by Samyam Puri). He is a +2 student but his behavior and character is similar to a school going child. His friends and circle are the same. He has a crush with his teacher (played by Priyanka Karki). He don’t have any interest in studies. He imagine being a center of attraction among his friends in college. So he tries to do those things which will possibly make him hero in front of everyone. But he fails miserably every time. He starts feeling that no one cares for him. Even on his birthday, no one wish him and with this pain he leaves his house and stays at a lodge in Thamel area. All the movie revolves around an imagination and effort of Swastik to become center of attraction. Will his effort gets succeed or not? Watch the movie to know.


Punte Parade Review:

Punte Parade stands on only one strong point, i.e: actors’ performance.The script and screenplay is written so lazily that you will get bored inside the theater. The movie tries to show the psychology of a student but couldn’t present in an effective way. The character presented in the movie are of plus two level but they behave as if they are school going student. The psychology of a student shown is logical but the setting is wrong which is the weak point of the movie.

Movie had great expectations because of Subas Koirala,the director, whose first directorial venture Apabad was largely appreciated but in this movie we can easily feel Subas Koirala’s lack of dedication towards the movie and thus Subas Koirala disappoints largely. I was expecting the same kind of dedication of the director in the movie but this time Subas Koirala disappoints largely. There was a lot of space in the movie which could make it better but it seems like writer and director have worked half-heatedly.

Punte Parade is all about character Punte played by Samyam Puri. He steals the show once again. His performance is brilliant and no can deny that he is the next super star of Nepali film industry. New actress Anjila Dahal has done good work. Nilu Doma Sherpa and other co-stars have also done good job. All the actors have tried to give life to their characters but the script of the movie doesn’t offer anything interesting which ruins the hard work of the actors. Priyanka Karki looks glamorous as a teacher but she don’t have any scope in the movie. Her character could have been worked out well.

Overall Punte Parade is a below average movie by Subas Koirala and it seems impossible that it will impress audiences. It’s all about Samyam Puri who will surely impress audience once again with his brilliant performance. The movie neither has entertaining quotient nor any message for student or parents. In short there is nothing to watch in the movie and it is a sole waste of money. Punte Parade is just a showcase of actors performance.
