Bhimdatta Review:

Bhimdatta is not a biopic but it is the story of four characters which explores the history of Bhimdatta. The theme of the movie is good and it had lot of scope to turn out awesome but its script and screenplay fails miserably. Although movie is publicize saying it is a biopic of Bhimdatta but movie is not. Movie have portrayed the life of Bhimdatta linking the four characters but doesn’t justify properly. This is the main problem of film Bhimdatta.

Movie build expectation, curiosity and excitement on first half. When the four characters reach Dadeldhura to study about Bhimdatta, the movie starts losing its pace slowly and after the first half movie focuses only on the life of Bhimdatta and forgets to focus on those four characters and other aspects. Director and writer were confident that Bhimdatta’s story and patriotic feeling will drag audience so the main theme was neglected. A little effort of the script and screenplay could have made the movie better but it fails.
Nawal Khadka is seen as Bhimdatta and he has portrayed well. His dialogue delivery is good. Sumnima Ghimire as Parbati (wife of Bhimdatta) has gave one of the finest performance of her career. Her innocence, beauty, dialogue delivery, struggle can be felt from her expression that is remarkable. Nisha Adhikari as Astha Singh is good. Director have done careless on selecting few supporting actors which will make audience laugh. Like Mala Bohora’s grandfather (Bhimdatta’s friend) doesn’t looks like grandfather just by doing makeup. An old man could have been used to portray that character which is a negative point of director.

Song are melodious which are well placed. Choreography of Himgyap Lama is appreciable. Mani Thapa’s story had a good scope but the script fails to present the theme of the story properly. Few action scenes are too much elongated and too much violent for children and female. Dialogues are another appreciable aspect of the movie which will gain clapping from the audience inside the theater.

Director and writer have more focused on those quotient which will drag audience to the theater rather than focusing on making a well executed film. Action, dialogues, patriotic theme and patriotic dialogues are more focused rather than the main theme. These ingredients may work for the movie especially outside the valley and grab good collection at box office.

Last Word:

Bhimdatta can be a good movie just to gain knowledge about the history of Bhimdatta but it has not been presented well which may disappoint your experience of watching a biopic movie.
