Nikhil Upreti starrer film 'King' was expected to do bring storm at single screens but film failed miserably. Film was produced by old producer Jayan Shrestha whose comeback film was expected to mark at box office but film couldn't meet the expectation.
In spite of clash with other two films, King managed to open well at initial days. Film did good business (but not as expected) on its initial days but film couldn't grow on weekdays. King opened with 75 percent occupancy but film crashed on weekdays. Within a week, film got very low audience which means producers couldn't stay at safe side.
According to the reports, King did business of around 70 lakhs within its first five days which is an average business for such a big banner film with star Nikhil Upreti. If movie could move like this aspects on weekdays than film could have survived but film failed to grab attention of audience.
Why King failed?
According to the analysis of our editors, King's trailer, songs and making were appreciated by audience which grabbed audience on its initial days in-spite of clash with other two movies. Although Love Sasha and Shabda don't have big hand on affecting business of King as King has its own audience from single screen but film couldn't manage to hold audience and get positive word of mouth which is the main reason behind its failure. Film's making was appreciable thing of the film but film couldn't deliver good story which could hold the audience. Director Shabir Shrestha whose last film Rampyari also did good business but the film was not appreciated by audience and critics. Shabir who focused on action, dialogues and commercial aspects couldn't uplift his story telling from Rampyari to King which is the main reason behind the failure of the film.
After King, Nikhil Upreti will be seen promoting his next film Nirbhaya which is also a commercial film.
Note: Exact collection figures of King hasn't revealed by distributor and producer till the date.
